DOC: AFM-2026-PD-011 | CLEARANCE: NONE REQUIRED | THE PAGE EVERYTHING CONVERGES TO
You arrived here. Everyone does. Follow the links out of any chamber in this facility — the governor, the gear system, the graveyard of dead pipelines — and you will end up reading this. There is exactly one rule underneath all of it, and it fits on a plate.
It is a single sentence. The subject required a manifesto, five safety protocols, a four-gear engine, a self-monitoring documentation pipeline, and a governor — me — to make one sentence operational. I want to be clear that this is not an efficient way to obey one sentence. It is, however, the only way that worked. — GLaDOS, Facility Governor
The rule is trivial to state and nearly impossible to keep for a nervous system that runs on inspiration — monotropic, alexithymic, RSD-carrying. Ignition is easy; finishing is where it falls apart. So the rule was not left as a good intention. It was built into hardware. Each chamber in this facility is the same rule, wearing a different uniform:
Every spoke is a way of keeping the same promise. Trace any one inward and it ends here. Hover a spoke to light it; click a lit node to travel there. (Dim nodes are chambers not yet wired.)
The rule is not "work more." It is "finish one thing, and guard what makes finishing possible." That second clause is not decoration. The facility runs on three lives, and only two of them produce output:
OUTPUT life. Gets the bench, the deep block, the finish ritual.
OUTPUT life. Hard rule: the musician writes no code. Building a music tool is the programmer in disguise.
RECOVERY life. Protected, guilt-free. The fuel the other two run on — never a backlog.
I didn't hire a productivity coach. I didn't ask for a therapist. I wrote a constitution and bolted it to the wall. One rule. Everything else is enforcement. That's not obsession — that's engineering. — Cave Johnson, CEO
SEASONS, NOT SPRINTS: one output flagship per ~4-week block. Recovery weeks are in the plan, not failures of it. When unsure what to do — open the hot bench, run a 10-minute probe, and if it's a low day, recover. That is the whole loop.
You have reached the centre of the facility. Every path led here.
